Lighthouse Bible Church is a Bible-centered church. The foundation for all
we teach and practice is the Bible, God's Word. If we practice something
not in harmony with God's Word, we will change.
We
believe that all Scripture, to be properly understood, must be studied in
context; linguistically, culturally, and historically. And it must be applied
contemporarily. God's Word still has the answers for all of man's
problems.
When
it comes to finances we are a little different. You won't hear a lot said
about money, and you will rarely see an offering plate passed. We believe
all true believers in Jesus Christ have the privilege and responsibility to
return to God a portion of what He allows us to earn. We do not teach
legalistic tithing, but rather challenge you to trust God and use tithing as a
starting point, learning to trust Him with more as your faith grows. We
believe your giving is a very personal issue which is indicative of your
relationship with the Lord.
Our
music is an attempt to fulfill the instruction of Scripture to sing hymns,
psalms, and spiritual songs. We strive for a blend of old and new, heavy
and light, attempting never to allow our music to become boring, stale, or
worldly.
We are a church that is trying to be what God wants us to be. We have
members and friends who are on every rung toward spiritual maturity. We
attempt to encourage each other on, while remaining tolerant, believing that God
must call each Christian to their next step toward maturity. Our
responsibility is to encourage and help each other, not to push or drag one
another along.
We are
deeply committed to our families, believing God wants us to raise up many godly
generations. We believe the Lord Jesus holds us accountable for the
training and education of our children.
We
are not part of any association or denomination. However, we do fellowship
and cooperate with churches that share our basic commitments.
...the Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word
of God.
...there is one God, eternally existent in three persons; God the
Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost.
...In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless
life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily
resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His personal
future return to this earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years.
…in the blessed hope - the rapture of the Church at Christ's coming.
...the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in
the precious blood of Christ.
...regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal
salvation.
...in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian
is enabled to live a holy life.
...in the resurrection of, both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting
life and the other to everlasting damnation.
...in the six days of creation found in
the book of Genesis.
...believers should separate themselves from worldly, ungodly activities.
...the local church is God's institution
for evangelizing the lost and building up the saints.
...in the eternal security of all true
believers.
Glorifying
God, nurturing personal growth and proclaiming the Gospel to the ends of the
earth. We believe we are to gather as a church to glorify God and nurture
personal growth, then go out of the church doors to proclaim salvation through
the Lord Jesus to a lost and dying world. Some of the ways we are attempting to
accomplish this.
Glorify...
God through worship times, using psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs
causing us to focus on God's attributes and purposes. The Bible message is
presented (verse by verse) as the only way to know and live life fruitfully
according to God's principles. We have formal and informal prayer teams that
meet at various times throughout the week. Music is important, and we have
choirs, musicians, groups, and soloists who give God the glory.
Nurture...
Personal Growth through Bible study groups, Sunday school classes,
special topic seminars, training sessions, AWANA, Parent and Youth Programs
(challenging youth to service), Men's Ministries, Ladies Ministries,
College/Career, sports, retreats, tape ministry (without charge). Lighthouse
Bible encourages parental responsibility in every area of child rearing and
education, with the church providing encouragement, assistance, and Biblical
direction.
Proclaim...
The Good News through our Bible Study Groups, AWANA and other church
ministries. The training provided through our ministries enables us to support
and send out missionaries at home and abroad, participating in our Lord's Great
Commission.
